But sometimes it's good to have pictures, too...
I just saw a group of books for young children that I really like. They come from a publisher in--not surprisingly--California, called Dawn Publications.
Dawn is a publishing house dedicated to introducing children to nature. They do it through books that are simply written and gorgeously illustrated. One entitled Forest Bright, Forest Night won the 2006 Teacher's Choice Award and will lead your little ones through 24 hours in the woods, showing the balance woodland creatures strike, and even challenging the young reader to learn how to count, learn what the numbers 1-10 look like, and learn when and where the different animals sleep.
